News from the North:

At 12th night I had the excellent opportunity to meet many of you and
discuss with the Royals upcoming plans for the Northern Army.

Our first chance to shed the sluggards curse of winter is to join Lord
Mungoe and the Barony of Marinus at their Winter War Assessment (Feb
25-27; http://acorn.atlantia.sca.org/0502/winter_war.htm). It is not
often we can have practice in the woods. Even greater is the opportunity
for our combat archers and siege engineers to practice at moving targets.

Be ready for even more War Practices come spring! Ponte - Alto has
graciously allowed us to convene for another afternoon of melee madness
on Sunday March 27th! For those of who have attended before please tell
others of the _fun_ you had. If you are new to melee, the best way to
learn "what to do" is to participate! There will be a few drills to give
the beginners an understanding; but getting into the mix is a great way
to develop the "melee sense" that will keep you alive through the
battle. Other practices will occur monthly – more on them as the months
draw nearer.

Also of note- the grand armies have a call into the Kingdom of
AEthelmearc. His Royal Highness will be attending Blackstone Raids
(April 22-24, near Charleston WV ) where several hundred heavies will
take the field. Blackstone Raids usually has several A&S events too, so
there really is something for everyone. Once available, I will post the
link to the event. Let us show that our bonds of friendship can hit well
and clean.

Of service,
Abel Brem
