Noble Friends, Especially Fellow Scots,
In August of this year a Pictish cross stone was discovered in a Dingwall
graveyard in the Scottish Highlands. The elaborately carved stone is only
half of its original two-meter height, and had been reused as a gravestone
in the late 1700s:

Now the stone has been cleaned, and two large beasties (to use the Scottish
word) carved on the backside have been revealed:

Archaeologists have described the animals as "unlike anything found
before". It is a very rare survival, as only around 50 such carved stones
are known to exist.
Yours Aye,
Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
