Noble Friends,
According to a BBC piece today, three beehives on the Notre Dame Cathedral
roof have survived largely intact. The bees are part of a scheme to
increase the bee population in urban Paris.
The story is at https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-47995604 .
Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland also had its bees. During renovations, a hive
cavity was discovered recently during renovations, built into one of the
rooftop pinnacles. This was apparently a gift just to the bees, since there
was no way to open the hive to remove any honey. No bees were then using
the chamber: read under "Rooftop Pinnacle" at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosslyn_Chapel .
Yours Aye,
Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
