Noble Friends, Especially Heralds:

On 18 July 1555 England's College of Arms was re-chartered by Queen Mary 
I and her consort Philip II of Spain. The earliest surviving charter for 
the College of Arms was issued by Richard III in 1484. Whether there 
were earlier charters now lost is not known.
