Noble Friends,

When William the Conquer . . . er . . . conquered England, what became 
of the surviving members of the Anglo-Saxon royal family? They were 
given refuge in Scotland in 1068, and Princess Margaret later married 
King Malcolm Cranmore. Prince Edgar tried an invasion of England to 
regain the throne, but was beaten back and his Danish allies were bought 
off by William. Edgar later made peace with William, went on crusades, 
and plotted against Henry I of England. Somehow he survived and died of 
natural causes after 1125.
