Noble Friends,

On this date in 1558, the Poczta Polska, or Polish postal service, was
founded. The official postal service was based on private courier
services used by various merchants between Cracow and Venice. From 1558
the King of Poland, Sigismund II Augustus, granted licenses and paid the
costs of the service to various merchants. The initial route was between
Cracow, Vienna and Venice, with a second service between Cracow, Warsaw
and Vilnius. The official state correspondence was carried without
additional charge, but the couriers also accepted private correspondence
for a fee: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poczta_Polska

October 18th is still an official "Polish Post holiday". Does this mean
no mail is delivered that day? If so, that seems odd, but it's an odd world.

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, That Crazy Scot
