Noble Friends,

With our view of Islam colored by the Crusades, few realize that during
the 16th century many Muslims from various lands found their way to
England, and many stayed. Due to isolation from trade with Catholic
Europe, Queen Elizabeth reached out to Muslim countries. Besides the
obvious diplomats, merchants, sailors, and sometimes slaves ended up
living in England for long periods, or permanently.

Today the BBC offers an interesting summary about Muslims in Elizabeth's
England, spiced by some very interesting period illustrations:

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier
