I am unfortunately one of the ladies Milord is aiming at
and I apologize to Your Majesties. I will say that I started to  struggle 
to get up
and the good gentles with me suggested that I keep sitting.
(There were two reasons for this, one of which was on my lap,
and my r. knee which was not working)
I agree with you about Courtesy,  I was raised to have  manners
and I use them, 
not just ceremonially.

 If courtesy was used on our Highways there would be a lot less deadly  
driving.
