I like the idea, but see a few potential pitfalls.

1) Some people may be intimidated by the idea of 'marking themself' as
new.  Heck, I would have been.  I was nervous enough in my first few
events as-is, and I had a decided guide taking me to them.

2) Any kind of 'new' favor, wouldn't be effective, if the meaning of it
was only known to a dozen folks at a Baronial Meeting who came up with
the idea for their event.   Versus the 200 other people at the event who
are just attending.
   It 'almost' would have to be something obvious (A belt favor with the
word NEW PERSON) on it *eww*.  Or something that is somewhat agreed
upon, by the Chatelaines of Atlantia, as a general mark.

3) There's also a wide spectrum of 'new', which of course feeds into
this problem.   You may have the person to whom this is their first
event.  But who have been playing locally for a year.  And you may have
the person who has never been to a local-anything, but it's their 4th
event, and really, they are still 'new'

I think it's the latter reason, why we have Chatelaines/Castellans (And
BLESS THEM) ... as every case is different and needs treated differently.
