Greetings and a few quick comments to the tavern:
Comps equals higher prices for those who do pay. No savings overall, just a redistribution of wealth.
Comps for cooks but not for archery mic's? That's the only experience I have, but the last event was days of work before (making targets,) all day of event work, and hours afterwards returning targets to storage (no feast for me). Plus out-of-pocket for all supples including prizes. And what of all the others out there working all day? We may do all this because we absolutely love it and choose to - - but fair is fair and if you comp one group, another will want it.
So where on earth would you draw such a comp/no-comp line? Don't we ALL work to make events happen?
Re-distributions of wealth must be thought through carefully and usually lead to resentments and more political trouble in the end.
