I hope I will be forgiven for sending this completely OT message to the tavern, but I know many in my SCA family could be affested. It turns out that some pet vaccines can cause a terribly aggressive and malignant form of cancer known as injection site sarcoma or fibro sarcoma. It is most often seen in cats. The vaccine most likely to cause it is the feline leukemia shot (FeLV), followed in incidence by the rabies vaccine. It is rare with the estimated incidence being 1 in 10,000, though some consider the estimate to be too low. Giving the two in the same location raises the incidence by 125% and giving three in the same location raises the incidence by 176%. When this cancer occurs, It is treated by radical surgery, radiation and maybe chemo but the prognosis is poor. I am dealing with the possibility of this now in my beautiful, young cat. There is a conspiracy of silence regarding this among vets. It happens in dogs as well and sometimes ferrets.. Be aware and be careful about how your pet is vaccinated. YIS Averey
