well in all fairness no one person represents an event estienne and i dont
think war of the wings, as an event, projects anything but a fun time with
lots of friends old and new.  please lets not let one person, with an
obvious objective and chip, start a whole negative series of follow ups.
was the comment offensive?  sure, it was meant to be and thats fine.  meadbh
has a beef with me, im not aware of what it is but i can guess, and she took
a jab.  its not a big deal and it had zero effect.  she felt some need to
champion something that was never attacked and her passion lead her to
attack.  that has nothing to do with war of the wings or anyone associated
with the event or not.  it only has to do with her and her issue(s).  she
expressed her opinion, she doesnt make the rules and her opinion carries as
much weight as each person gives it.  to some that might be a lot, to others
it might be nothing.  its just her opinion.

the event steward has explained some of the justification for the increase
in the event fee.  while i dont personally agree with it i can certainly
understand her (and im sure others that were part of the decision making
process) intentions.  clearly she feels she is doing the best thing for the
circumstances and clearly isnt acting in any malicious way.  im sure that
the event will go well, folks will have great times, there will be failures
which allow learning and improvement.  this is true for pretty much every
event held in our society.  i think we all support her and her staff and im
sure we all want to see war of the wings continue to grow and improve and
serve the people of atlantia and the sca.  my comment that apparently got
two people all ruffled up was one that i know a lot of folks shared (trust
me i have the emails) at the time and i think those of us that were
concerned about the increases better understand the reasoning behind it.
again, my opinion hasnt changed but i am now better educated as to the whys
behind it.  

as far as event pricing goes i think that all of us, regardless of where we
happen to live, have to consider the impact those fees have on us and what
the payoff will be for attending an event.  this is normal and this is part
of what goes into our decision making process for planning which events we
attend.  discussing these things, how we feel, and what all is involved is
an opportunity for folks to learn and share.  nothing wrong with that.

With a response like that, I'm sure that I can find better things to
do with my time as well. Granted, I'm not important, and whether I
show up or not will affect attendance by exactly 1 person - but I find
to hard to support an event represented by such an offensive attitude.
