If you bring your dog to an event, you should bring your own bags to pick up
after that dog. You have to know he's going to "go" at some point during
the event. That shouldn't be anyone's responsibility but the owner. You
are responsibility for the attitude, and behavior of your dog.
Unfortuatnely, no one things their little "sweetie" will bite but they do.
I have two dogs and my response is that neither of my dogs have ever bitten
anyone, but if the circumstances change and they're stressed, they MIGHT
bite. Dogs in general are unpredictable. Not all dogs who bite for the
first time have hosptility issues. Some are scared, in an unfamiliar place
or haven't been well socialized in an SCA setting. There are people who
will bend the rules to the point of breaking and they make it horrible for
everyone else. In the end, everyone should be responsible for their own
animal.
A dog owner should be their own facilitator and if they're not then they
ruin it for everyone. in years past, we also had cases of people tying dogs
to trees for the day and leaving them in crates during the day and overnight
and the barking and suffering was AWFUL. The people beisde the animals and
their owners were the ones who were treated poorly. In the end, those
several (it wasn't one or two) have made it untenable for animals at a lot
of events).
I have brought both of our dogs to a Sapphire past and when their behavior
was what I considered wrong for the event, I took them home so they would
not be an issue to those around me. Not everyone thinks that way.
