I was just using that event as an example of how every
situation is different. It may have seemed as if I was
calling you out on the subject, that was not my intent
and I appologize if you took it that way. It was
simply to use the event you attended as an example.
I should make it clear that I as well prefer everyone
to be in garb. I've stated that I agree it puts a
damper on the over all feel of events.
What I do not agree with is new comers being chastised
for being new. For feeling out of place and
uncomfortable, which is why they are not wearing garb.
I liken it to Garb Nazi's who march right up to
someone and scold a person for wearing garb that's
color isnt period, or material.
To touch on something you mentioned though: You are in
fact on display whether the new comer is in garb or
not. Everything you do, I do or the person next to us
does is on display and noticed by new comers
regardless of what they are wearing. And, our actions
leave impressions on them.
As for smoking, I do not recall if there was something
about it noted on a Kingdom level. I do know that I
have attended several events where there are certain
smoking areas, some not.
As for them not being period, we could start a long
list of items that are at every single event that are
not period. Tennis shoes, duct tape, the plastic
serving trays sometimes used at events, four pronged
forks.. I mean really.. need I go on? This is the
middle ages as we would have liked to of had it. I
personally would have liked to of had Mt Dew in my
goblet at feast.
