Playing Devils advocate here, as I do not plan to boycott anyones event on
the merrit of polotics:

Dun Carrig has experienced people who should of intervened with sound advice
on why the date would not work.

2) Maybe the people responsible for the Dun Carrig event are simply new to

Same response as one.

2) Maybe the people responsible for the Dun Carrig event just filled out the
> form for the event and checked the box for "no conflicting events" because
> it seemed like a reasonable thing to do. Have they since been asked to
> allow the Holiday Faire to conflict with their event and refused?

This is a lesser concern when one considers the oversight shown by
reason one and two above.

3) The groups aren't all that far apart. Maybe the essential parts of

A reasonable possibility. There are however better ways of arranging
situations for working together.

4) Maybe the folks in Dun Carrig, faced with a crowded kingdom calendar
> chock full of "traditional" events by older groups, simply got tired of

I think they should of chose to conflict with an event in another state at
least. Doing it as they did was just begging for an uproar.

5) Maybe Stierbach is just plain tired of doing the same event and wanted a

I am not sure the benifit outweighs the risk here. I think after considering
the list of reasons you supplied objectilvely one has to conclude the action
was not a wise one. Although I think boycott is a extreme measure some may
be leary about attending either event because of the people attending will
be split between the two events, so neither event will be particulaurly
large. Overall I think the decision is equivalent to Dun Carrig shooting
itself in the foot then turning to its neighbor and doing the same.

The merchant community has every right to be out raged. Splitting the pool
of consumers between two events in close proximity is a bad move from their
perspective.
