Umm...folks....calm down a bit...

Conflicts happen...think about it...

There are 52 weekends in a year.
Kingdom reserves, by law or tradition, (at least) 11 of them for Kingdom
events, that leaves 41
Pennsic spans 3 weekends (you can't schedule against Pennsic unless you
anticipate low attendance or are having a "pity party"), leaving 38
You can't schedule against Christmas, Thanksgiving, or the 4th of July,
leaving 35 weekends.

There are *49* groups in Atlantia (counting all branch types), plus 2
incipient branches. Each group is expected to host at least one event a
year, and is allowed to "no conflict" 1 event. By definition there will be
conflict, even with no conflicts allowed.

"But couldn't they have chosen to conflict with something in South
Carolina?" Let's see....just in Maryland and Virginia, there are 22 groups
(11 Baronys, 5 shires, 4 cantons 2 colleges), and one incipient
group. Every Barony hosts at least 2 events a year, and every other group
hosts at least one...guess what....that adds up to 36 events...35
weekends....oops.

Every year, at least one group gets it's sacred cow gored. Last year,
Rivers Point had to give up our "traditional" (we'd been hosting the event
for 5 years) weekend for Last Chance so Black Diamond could host King's
Assessment. We handled it diplomatically and nicely. Caer Mear passed up
Emerald Joust one year for Atlantian 20 year celebration (or "Atlantian 20
year flood", whichever you prefer). I suspect every single group can relate
a similar story.

It happens...deal with it...diplomatically would be a better plan than by
boycotts and waging war and all that (although...it would be viable event
schtick....).
