i was wondering why the title of Marquis is not
authorized as an alternate title. the reason i thought
it would be safe is that Federico Gonzaga was so
styled until he convinced the Holy Roman Emperor
Charles V to elevate him to Duke.

so, is there some reason that Marquis is not
considered to be equivelent to a Count or an Earl? The
title, at least, is period.
