Actually, when I was warlord for Atlantia (and Prince/King?) I met with the
regional commanders at Ymir and asked each of them to work with the groups
that made up their commands to devise unit insignias on a standard size
banner and pole so that when the Atlantian army musters, it would be easier
for fighters arriving at the field to quickly find their relative position
within the Atlantian order of battle for any given battle. This would also
make it easier to reform in best of three scenarios or in resurrection
scenarios. The impetus was not to "divide" the kingdom or its people, but
rather to better organize an army in the field. Under our system of
heraldic registry, however, you cannot register a badge to "the Atlantian
Army" (at least that is how I understand it).

I hope that each region, and the cavalry continue with this effort. My
vision is a tall kingdom banner in the center of our muster with the Kingdom
warlord banner easily seen beside it, and the regional banners marking
muster around the center for each of the regions. If the regional
commanders muster near their banners, it makes it much easier for the king
and warlord to find the commanders and vice versa. As an aside, it would be
my advice that these banners not be carried onto the field of battle, but
instead remain on the sidelines to mark the point for reforming the troops
after the engagement. This approach also ensures that no enemy will ever
carry one of those banners from the field in the event of disaster and
afterward attempt to ransom them back to our proud kingdom.
