sorry, got carried away there. unfortunately we need
to rely on Ladies asking for escorts in order for them
to be safer. these are the same Ladies that tell me
that they cannot buy a decent pavilion becuase they
cannot set it up themselves and won't ask for help.
something's broken in our society, and i think i know
what it is. in this i must lay the responsibility for

open doors.

tell the truth even when it hurts him
place his body between danger and the innocent
speak well
dress decently
be a credit to his mother
be prepared at any time to be the last deciding vote
between right and wrong

ladies, unfortunately for them, get the hardest duty
of all. but there is only one. 
they must

create those situations that allow men to be
Gentlemen.

rightly or wrongly we have structured our society in
such a way as to define women as both the benificiary
of civilization and the conservator of it. sure, men
are generally the ones called upon to fight and die
for civilization, but women are the ones who define
and enforce the rules of it.

at a certain point i will be depending upon you Ladies
to be a little less independent and ask me to do stuff
for you. this means asking me to carry stuff, put up
your pavilion, or walk you home. since a man is what
he does, i can't very well be a Gentleman if i never
get a chance to do gentlemanly things.
