[MR] sewing notions on airplane?

There is also a thread cutter that Joann fabrics sells that looks like a round pendant about the size of a half-dollar, with little notches in it, someone showed it to me at an event, she bought it specifically to use on planes.

  It looks like ANYTHING SHARP is basically a no-go.  And they specifically 
  mention 'metal scissors', 'knifes of any kind/material' (which would cover 
  the ripper I think), and only mention 'medically necessary 
  needles/syringes' to be allowed.

  So I think, you would be better off with a good book.
