My Lord, if you intended to ruffle feathers, I'm sure that's exactly
what is happening. You certainly ruffled mine. I've been autocratting
events in the SCA and Atlantia for 20+ years. I'm one of the founding
members of a Barony, and currently its Baroness. I cite this
information just so you'll know that I have "been there, done that".
This is a VERY BAD IDEA! Finding sites for events, especially large,
Kingdom-level events, can be very difficult. Oftentimes the sites are
available, but the cost is prohibitive. Or, as is often the case, the
really great sites just aren't available, for whatever reason. Some
groups have a number of sites that they can use, others have none that
would work for a Kingdom event. Most Kings-to-be want their
Coronations held as a camping event. In our Barony, we have several
nice campsites, but they are all very expensive...and only one is
really suitable for a Coronation. So...you see, putting a requirement
in that Baronies must host x number of Kingdom events per time frame
would cause great difficulties for a number of groups. Especially if
you want to rotate them!
I sincerely hope that no one acts on your suggestion!

How about if a rotating schedule is made among the Baronies, for 4+
years and each is required to hold 2 kingdom events in that period.
Similar required hostings were common among British and HRE reigns. If I
know I have 1 + years to pull off an event I think I could get it done.
I know kings like to select some locations but it is not working. Of
course I would allow baronies to trade events like companies trade tax
credits etc. There is no reason this could not be made a requirement to
hold any active status barony. This would not preclude Shires and
colleges from doing Kingdom events and would settle planning issues well
in advance. This sort of thing is done by other national and regional
organizations to schedule qualifying matches and such and is a time and
cost burden equally spread over the course of time.
There that ought to get a few feather's ruffled.
