[MR] Kingdom level event bids

Let me respond to this and several other posts on the subject of kingdom
event bids. First, the kingdom does sponsor events on occasion without
involving a specific group, or finds the right individual to autocrat and
let's that autocrat involve a group or groups. These days that happens only
in "emergencies". And the kingdom does not need to ask local groups to use
a particular site.

I do not see a scenario in which the Crown will not choose the site of
Coronation any time in the near future because no King and Queen from South
Carolina, whose household, supporters and closest friends are from South
Carolina, will want to hold their Coronation in northern Maryland. Nor will
the interest in a Southern Crown's Coronation be as high in the North, thus
affecting attendance.

The reason events are bid so far in advance is to allow groups time to find
and secure sites in areas where suitable sites are scarce and get reserved
early by other groups if we do not act. This system was set up to give all
groups in the kingdom a chance to find sites and bid events on an equal
footing. The failure of groups to take advantage of the bidding process
should not be blamed on the bid system. If I lived in Northern Virginia, I
would appreciate that bids are taken six months in advance, as that would
mean that when I call sites to see if they are available six months out, I
would have a chance at finding an open site. The fact is that the same
groups seem to continually bid for Kingdom events, and consequently end up
getting them.

I would suggest that groups that are interested in hosting Kingdom events
contact the Seneschal's deputy for event bids, Lady Katherine Luvel, for
information about what kinds of things should be taken into account when
preparing a bid for a Kingdom level event.

Last, thank you all for your interest in improving Atlantia's scheduling of
Kingdom events.

Sincerely,

Cuan
