Greetings!

I hope that I can be of some assistance in your ponderings, as I would
be interested in this and also have some experience in forming a guild,
although a local one, not Kingdom.

Your first question was "would it be welcome?". I hope that it would.
Many have commented that more attention should be paid to staying "in
personna" at events, or that they don't really know what to do at
events when they aren't either fighting or part of the staff. Playing
games would add more depth to our events and activities. Also, the new
comer can often step into a game and learn it quickly, making friends
and having a good time. At many of the demos I have been at, the game
tables seem to get some of the most interaction with the public. (This
is not to say that the fighting doesn't attract the most attention!)So
I personally feel that it should be welcomed. This doesn't mean that
everyone has to take part, or even like playing games, learning about
games, or making gaming equipment. After all, only those who are
interested need get involved. But it does then give these who are
interested, or perhaps autocrats who would like to know people to
contact, a beginning source to go to.

As for your second question, what exactly do you need to do. As I
mentioned, I did this on a local level, so I may be leaving something
out here, and I may not be totaly up to date on Kingdom policy, but the
first thing would be to define what you expect the structure and
purpose of the guild to be. I would suggest looking at the other guilds
and their charters. (I will try to cull my ancient emails and give you
some of the pointers, suggestions I got). This type of guild would fall
under the auspices of the Kingdom Minister of Arts and Sciences, so you
should contact him as well. When you have drawn up a charter that you
both agree on, you should present it to the King and Queen. (I would
recommend getting their input sooner, rather than later.) If it meets
with their approval, the concept as well as the charter, then they
ratify it and you have a Kingdom level guild.
