Sometimes Sandy copies my posts on. This time I think I'll copy his.
Sandy is in Australia, and corresponds with Dan Carlsson more
frequently than I do. He's even imported Dan to Australia for
a lecture and done the same thing with Anders Soderberg, of the
Viking Bronze Casting webpages. Attached to the Frojel pages.
Sandy has a large, huge actually, photolibrary of artefacts on
his group's pages. He photographed nearly everything they had.

A couple of years ago Dan asked me how to improve circulation of
Viking Heritage magazine, which I get and push a bit, and generate funds
they so desperately need in the Swedish economy. They have a 65%
tax over there as it is a socialist state, and the Swedish kronor
has fallen from 12.5 cents to about 9.5 in the last couple of years
compared to the U.S. Dollar. What I told him was that people needed
information and suggested a large number of subjects. While I imagine
he discussed it with many other people it was gratifying to see how
well, the initial CD on beads is selling. Here is a preview of
some of the future CD's. Gotland is where the great majority of
Viking Age finds in Sweden are made. Dan teaches and in the short
summers excavates about ten Viking Age graves per year. Gotland
is a large Swedish Island in the middle of the Baltic Sea, so
very much at the center of a good deal of the northern trade routes.

I believe many of you feel you got your money's worth with the
Beads CD. It was selling very well at Pennsic. At $10 including
shipping for a CD with 200 Beads it is well worth it.

I can cite numerous book resources on different cultures combs
in antler and bone. A couple are how to's. I've been buying
them long enough. Honestly, for the price you can't begin to
buy the books and articles for the number of combs that Dan
appears to be putting on the Combs CD. Besides, a many
of them are in other languages than English.

BTW, put an * before the subject line if you'd like an answer
in the next six months. I read by list, not so much by date.
Otherwise it's kind of hit and miss.

Hi all.

OK this is the text of the mail I got with the pics, any ideas /
suggestions
what they should make next?

Sandy.

Hej

I forgot to say that the long comb is a weaving comb, used in a loom.

Ooops! I forgot, there will be pictures and drawing of some 200-250,
different combs. Do you think it is enough :-(. There will even be
photos of two combs made of bronze, rather strange things.
The CD's will be ready by the end of Sept.

I do realize that there is a tremendous need for this kind of things,
and of course, in the end there will also be CD about excavations,
rune stones, houses and you name it. And of course I will cover
weapons as well as jewellery.

We will cover what people want and ask for, we just need the feedback.
