[MR] raising and lowering expectations

Frankly, we should stretch them as far as necessary to allow everyone a chance 
to participate. Now before you jump, I do qualify that with, if the person is 
not making an attempt because they cannot be bothered rather than they cannot 
do not have the experience then I have an issue with that. 

But frankly, for a weekend event where I have to travel 6 hours to get there I 
am not going to pack my period pavillion and the trappings just to get there at 
midnight or 1 am and have to set it up in the dark, or god forbid wait til the 
morning and then turn right around and take it down again after one day.

What I am getting at is there are ways to encourage people to participate and 
encourage them to get more period stuff. To date, I have not seen THAT tact 
used in event announcements. What I have seen has been discouragement.
