In an earlier message on this thread, Logan asked Mairghread:

Your Highnesses and everyone else who's listening, pray allow me my own
tuppence. As a herald I was heavily involved in the FIRST change to the
Consort's arms. This was in 1995 (requesting to change from the old
three-rose pattern with the reversed field, to the arms with a rose wreath
and erminois shell). I suggested then that we drop the ermine spots, a
suggestions which was turned down.

You know what? I didn't know the joke, and in fact had it explained to me
some time later. My suggestion to drop the spots was based solely on the
grounds of simplicity. It's easier to deal with a plain gold shell than a
gold shell with black spots.

But, if we're going to go so far as a complete redesign, I would be so
bold as to support the earlier suggestion made, of dropping the Consrt's
arms altogether, and having both King and Queen use the Kingdom arms no
matter who won the Crown Tourney bouts to get them there.

That would truly be simplest.

Yours in service,
Evan
