First of all, the dumb laws citation of the statute is not complete.  The
complete statute sets out the rules for the law, and lists exemptions.  The
laws were aimed at secret societies and were designed to give law
enforcement the ability to arrest folks who chose to participate in those
type events.  While some of you might interpret the letter of the law such
that some officer would start arresting folks in monk robes, I don't see it
that way.  If I was going to arrest folks at an SCA event, I'd go for the
alcohol and drug violations first. (speaking professionally)

If the case was like the folks who brought it up first said, you could
arrest the Masons, the Knights of Columbus, or most fraternity initiations.

And, if anyone is still worried, it's a class 1 Misdemeanor, right up there
with simple assault and Carrying a concealed weapon.
