Can we just scrap our rules and stick to Society rules only?
Naw, that would be too easy.....

Actually Baron Jonathas ... the new ruling was never actually put in place.
It was put forward by the previous Earl Marshal, for comment, and after
he uproar over how it was worded, he stated that it would apply as a
discretionary ruling / interpretation' for that year/summer, and then
e would evaluate it further before making it permanent.
He never made it permanent/official before he stepped down.
Lorelei has been examining/evaluating the rules, and requested for that
ime-being that we all operated under the 'new guidance', but knowing
hat it's only that at the moment.
She will come up with final wording, as part of this new process I'm sure.

that the Law has somehow reverted back to the old wording ....
(OLD) (But what is currently in LAW)
*3.9.3.2.2* At a minimum, each shooting station will have a safety zone
that extends 30 degrees from each end of the shooting line to a line
even with the furthest target, or 50 yards, whichever is closer. The
zone will then extend straight back from those points for 40 yards, or
half the distance from the shooting line to the target, whichever is
greater. A larger safety zone is recommended if possible.

3.9.3.2.2 At a minimum, each shooting station will have a safety zone
that extends 30 degrees from each end of the shooting line to a line
even with the furthest target, or 50 yards, whichever is closer. The
safety zone will then extend 100 yards from all points on the shooting
line, or half the distance from the shooting line to a line parallel to
the farthest target, whichever is greater. A larger safety zone is
recommended if possible.
A waiver may be requested for shorter ranges provided there is a
physical barrier, which will stop arrows. This waiver must be requested
in writing from the DEM-Target Archery only and approval must be
received in writing and retained by the Marshal in charge at the site.
The DEM-Target Archery may provide restrictions in order to use the
modified range, such as restricting bow type and poundage.
So *technically* at the moment the Law on the books applies??? I hope
not as it was changed due to specific safety failures of the length of
the old safety zone.

The Kingdom Earl Marshal has asked the DEMs to put together a team
to look at policy in their individual discipline.
If you are interested in serving in this capacity, (to review
archery policy and rules), let me know and I will put you on the
list. Send me an email off list. This is your chance; if there is
something confusing, wrong, redundant, left out of the archery rules
we will review it and make it right. You don't have to be on the
policy review committee to offer suggestions.
Thank you,
Lorelei - DEM
