[Archers] Sponsored Shoot at Pennsic

Greetings to the Archers of Atlantia,

Some comments that Seamus made at the shoot I was running last weekend got
me to thinking. After the Pennsic Masters tourney several people where
commenting on the lack of good fun shooting at Pennsic outside of the couple
people who get to play in the Masters tourney, the same war point shoots are
done yearly but very little else. I don't remember who, but someone
suggested sponsoring a shoot.

I would like to propose that we, the archers of the great Kingdom of
Atlantia, challenge the Knowne World. That is we, sponsor a shoot. I was
thinking of something like the Lochmere Arrow, but between Kingdoms instead
of Baronies. Teams of three archers, one crossbow, one period bow, and one
flat limb, each kingdom could have multiple teams competing. The cost to
enter each team is $6 ($2 per archer) half of which would be used as seed
money for the following year's shoot, half of which would be used for the
prize which the winning Kingdom chooses which charity receives (would
recommend a charity local to the Kingdom). The top teams would get first
crack at the shoot, then starting at say noon every archer is challenged to
put together a team (no bow requirements) and shoot.

If this is to work, it will need deep support of the archery community.
Being no one person has the space to transport an entire shoot to Pennsic,
each person would need to take one target. Plus we would need to staff the
marshals for this shoot ourselves. From the few archers at Holiday Faire I
chatted with seemed to like the idea, but this will need broader support.

As Seamus pointed out at the shoot last weekend, I have the space to host a
shoot. So, if there is support to go forward with this, I'll volunteer to
host a tournament to raise the seed money for the first year, and act as a
trial run before Pennsic.

Soooo..... I'll turn the floor over for discussion.
