I encourage all members of our fair barony to consider what arts and
sciences we wood like to share with our younger members of the populace!

I know time is short, but is there anything you would be willing to teach
at Bloodbath?

To all the Ministers of the Arts and Sciences of Atlantia:

Her Royal Highness, Ysabella, has made it known to me Her intention, during
Her reign, to encourage the youth of this Fair Kingdom to participate more
deeply in the activities of Our Kingdom and be recognized for that
participation.

To that end, Her Royal Highness would like to see A&S competitions,
displays, and classes at our events for the young people of Our Kingdom in
order to teach our children about the arts and sciences that we love so
much.

For Her part, She has promised to take time at every event She attends to
view all the works that the children have created and leave tokens of
encouragement for them.

I would like to add that this would be an excellent opportunity to begin
teaching our children actual periiod arts and sciences rather than modern
craft projects. There are many things that can be taught to children from
a young age and many more that can be taught to the older ones.

.

As an example, I began teaching my own daughter, Larissa, to do a simple
running stitch when she was 5 years old. Then I taught her how to weave on
an inkle loom. ( Of course, I threaded her needles and warped her loom.)
She later used those skills to make a White Scarf that was presented to her
father on the day he became a provost. To this date, she remains the
youngest Atlantian to ever receive a Silver Nautilus at the age of 7! (If
anyone wishes to see what a 7 year old is capable of, just take a look at
the scarf Richard ffaukes wears when he is on the rapier field.) And now,
at the age of 20, she does beautiful embroidery that she displays all over
Our Kingdom.

Obviously, not every child will take to the arts the way that Larissa did
(and not everything that I tried to teach her sunk in), but just think of
the possibilities! I would encourage you all to get together with your
Youth Minister (if you have one) and come up with somes classes,
competitions, and /or displays for our children. And don't forget the
teenagers. They can do anything that we can do.

Her Highness has a completely full calendar of events for the next 3
months, so lets give Her our support and show her what Atlantian Youth can
accomplish!

Sincerely,

Branwen Wallis

KMoAS
