Katherine and I took part in the demo. We took a few images of us and they are here: http://s728.photobucket.com/albums/ww284/Flonzy/Anglo-Saxon%20Demo%20Nat%20Geo%2012-18-11/

It was a lot of fun there were so many vistors I stood from 10 am until 4pm with hardly a break.

Also we went through the Gold Hoard Exhibit after, it is a must see.

To their Majesties Cuan and Padraigin, their Highnesses Brian and Brianna

and all of Atlantia I have report of a deed of service done in the name of

Atlantia. On December 18th, 2011 a demonstration was held at the National

Geographic Museum in concert with their exhibit “The Anglo-Saxon Hoard:

Gold from England’s Dark Age.” We displayed various arts and crafts at

table stations. At the fiber arts table we had a warp weighted loom,

spinning, examples of period clothing, lucet braiding and more. We had a

table with wassail and a period style stew that was so successful that we

went through over 6 gallons of wassail and over 7 quarts of soup. Our

calligraphy and game table was also very popular. Visitors were given small

cards with their names written on them in Anglo-Saxon. At our brewing

station visitors were treated to small samples of mead and given an

introduction to brewing methods of the period. Across from this station was

a set of tables devoted to the martial aspects of Anglo-Saxon life.

Visitors got to handle and try on chain mail and helmets and ask questions

about period warfare. Also at this table were beautiful examples of bone

and wood carving including bowls, utensils, drinking horns and carved

dolls. Yet perhaps one feature, supplying a souvenir, will be the most

memorable for some. National Geographic graciously loaned us a life sized

version of their iconic yellow bordered picture frame. Several demo

participants generously searched their closets and provided garb and chain

mail to be used for people to dress up. We clothed hundreds in garb and

allowed them to take their pictures in the frame. One family stated they

would use it for their holiday cards. The day after the demo I was informed

by the coordinator that the number of visitors for the day was 794, of

which the vast majority came through our demo. Although the demo was hosted

by the Barony of Storvik it would have been impossible without the

steadfast support and hard work so munificently given by fellow Baronies

including Bright Hills, Highland Foorde, Ponte Alto, Tir-y-Don. Thank you

to all that made this day a grand success!

In Service,

Devin of Storvik
