June 4-6, 2010 - Highland River Melees  - New Site

The Barony of Highland Foorde invites all to join us for our 22nd Highland
River Melees, “Battles for Orleans” this 4th, 5th and 6th day of June,
2010.  Our most gracious and worthy Knight, Gaius Tascius Severus Fabianus
has based this year's Highland River Melees on the Hundred Years War. Heavy
fighting will be between many teams representing Duchies, Baronies,
mercenary bands etc.  These teams will be organized into two 'kingdoms': the
French and the English, the leaders will be chosen by a  male only tourney
for 'the Black Prince' and a female only tourney for 'Joan of Arc'.  Be
prepared for a long campaign.  Participants can leave and rejoin the
fighting throughout the day. Rapier

Saturday Schedule includes:
A&S Messy Moot - Various classes suitable for outdoors
A&S Challenges center around the Black Prince & Joan of Arc
Bardic throughout the day

Heavy - Women's Tournament to name the Maid of Orleans
Heavy - Men's Tournament to name the Black Prince
Heavy Campaigns (Melees) with Siege Engines & Combat Archery
Target Archery
Rapier Campaign Scenarios
Page School (Children's Classes)
Pancake Breakfast

Site information:  Our new site this year, Little Orleans Campground,
features 11 acres of flat open grounds surrounded by wooded camping sites.
Facilities include a camp store with groceries, beverages, beer/wine, ice,
LP gas and firewood.  Site is wet, no modern containers.  Pets are welcome
and must remain leashed.  They will be asked to leave if they cause a
disturbance or are not cleaned up after. Shower and pool are available with
a short but very steep walk.   Water is available on-site but you must bring
your own container to transport it.  If you need handicap accommodations
please contact an event steward prior to the event.
