Subject: [MR] Laurels Prize Tourney @ Pennsic

Please share this announcement far and wide...

Under the sponsorship of the AEthelmearc Order of the Laurel, there will be
fought at Pennsic a Laurel Prize Tourney on Friday August 18th at 2pm (blue
tourney field).

This is not an A&S competition; it is a real tournament with real fighting
and real prizes.

The Tournament is open to any member of the Order of the Laurel and their
apprentices authorized in heavy weapons combat. The rattan tourney has been
a regular at Pennsic for several years but for those who are unfamiliar with
it:

Laurels competing must donate a prize fashioned by their own hands to gain
entry to the list. If an apprentice is entering they must bring a handmade
prize, in addition, their Laurel must sign them in and also provide a prize
but gets to choose the reason it is awarded (best death, most chivalrous,...
etc) Non combatant Laurels or those without an apprentice to sponsor may
also participate in this way. Any Laurel may stand in as proxy for an
apprentice if their own Laurel is unable to attend, but all other entry
rules will still apply.

**Documentation is not necessary** but the sharing of knowledge is always
encouraged. If an entrant wants to add documentation or a handout from a
class they've taught that relates to the item as part of the prize, it will
be gratefully accepted.

The prizes will be on display throughout the tournament for all to admire.

The combatants will be ranked in order of their performance in the tourney.
(Format to be determined depending on the number of entrants). The winner of
the tournament will have first choice of prizes ... then the runner up...and
so on Everyone who enters will receive a prize and some will leave with
multiple prizes (so please don't leave as soon as you are done fighting).

Please direct any questions to Maitresse Yvianne de Castel d'Avignon, OL
AEthelmearc (yvianne_at_zoominternet.net) who will be camping at Pennsic
with House Izenfoust/Singing Stone (N-01 )
