Tournament of Love and Beauty – Rapier

On February 18, 2006, the Barony of Ponte Alto will be
holding a rapier tournament dedicated to Love and
Beauty.  It will be a mismatch tourney, meaning that
fighters cannot match weapons during their bouts.  The
right to first choice of weapons will be in the hands
of Lady Luck:  Each fighter will draw a card before
each bout.  The fighter that picks the highest card
will have the first choice of weapons.  

But wait!  There is more!  If you pick the Queen of
Hearts you have been touched by Love, meaning that you
have automatically won the bout! Of course, if you
draw the King of Spades, that means that you have been
consumed by Lust (or killed by a jealous husband) and
you have lost the bout.  And, if you draw that pesky
Joker you will have to entertain the long-suffering
marshals and the loudly cheering crowd if you want to
keep your right to first choice of weapons.  

Lost a bout because of a bad draw?  No problem!  The
format will be a bear-pit so all you need to do is get
back in line and fight again!

Oh, and did I mention that the winner and his or her
consort will become the Prince and Princess of Love
and Beauty?  So what are you waiting for?  Pick a
consort, pack your rapiers and head for Ponte Alto.
