JOB OPPORTUNITY
Program Assistant

The American Youth Policy Forum (AYPF) is seeking a Program Assistant to
join our non-profit team dedicated to providing learning events to youth
policymakers.  In this position you will help maintain, update, and
manage our Microsoft Access database of individuals who attend various
events and purchase publications.  You will assist with tasks related to
organizing our lunchtime forums and field trips by organizing lists of
invitees, emailing letters of invitation, posting event information on
the website, maintaining lists of participants, tracking attendance and
participation at various functions, organizing logistics, and collecting
and reporting on feedback.  You will interact with a large number of
individuals and organizations, both on Capitol Hill and in Washington,
DC, as events are organized.  You will also develop mailing lists for
press releases and mailings of reports and publications.  You will
maintain statistics on our event participants and publication sales and
provide regular reports.  You will also be responsible for maintaining
and uploading new information to our website (www.aypf.org) in
coordination with the AYPF webmaster. Other duties include responding to
information requests, general administrative support, and back-up phone
support.

Qualified candidates will:

*	have 2 years database management work experience, 
*	be able to identify, document, and troubleshoot database
problems, 
*	be able to coordinate maintenance tasks, produce reports and run
queries, and understand basic programming concepts (file definitions,
data types, inputs/outputs), 
*	be proficient in Microsoft Access and have good understanding of
Microsoft Excel, 
*	be proficient in Microsoft Word and Netscape software, and
*	have knowledge of Microsoft FrontPage and FTP software for
maintaining website, and
*	have a minimum typing speed of 60 wpm.

This position requires a well-organized approach to handling many
details with the ability to multi-task, excellent oral, written, and
interpersonal skills, ability to work independently in a small
organization (10 staff), ability to prioritize, a willingness to learn
new things, and a sense of humor.

AYPF is a non-profit professional development organization based in
Washington, DC.  We provide nonpartisan learning opportunities for
professionals working on youth policy issues at the national, state and
local levels.  Our goal is to enable policymakers and their aides to be

No, actually it wasn't - it just moved into the garage.  Maybe we 
should have called it a garage sale.

Was there anything in particular you were interested in? Some things 
didn't get sold and we may still have it.
