Subject: [Branchseneschals] Change in Calendar for Tournament of
Chivalry

I wanted to update all of you on the changes made this week to the Kingdom
calendar. As you are aware, last year a new event was placed on the
calendar for December called the Tournament of Chivalry. The Tournament is
a special format tournament designed to bring the Order of the Chivalry and
the unbelted fighters of Atlantia together for evaluation, interaction and
teaching. Moving this tournament into the height of tournament season
will promote the best showing from the fighters who wish to participate and
provides an opportunity for feedback in a setting less intense than Crown
Tournament.

Their Highnesses support the concept of this tournament but understand that
the transition of the date this fall has not allowed the branches of
Atlantia to alter their individual plans for the tournament season. In
recognition of your expressed needs, the Tournament of Chivalry will be
 >moved to June 26 in Sanford, NC for this year only. The Barony of
Stierbach is aware and is generous in their cooperation for the move. It
is our understanding that this is the only event currently in the planning
stages for that date.

In addition to the support this event will give the martial community,
Their Highnesses desire to provide an opportunity to allow the youth of
Atlantia to more fully participate in a major aspect of the SCA-event
planning and execution. The Tournament of Chivalry will have adults in key
roles with the task of mentoring teens in those roles or staffing those
jobs which either cannot be delegated to teens or for which there is no
teen volunteer. We will have many more announcements to this list of how
the teens in your branch can participate and how you as leaders can foster
the development of the youth program.

I hope this provides clarity for you as you discuss this matter at your
local branch meetings. Any specific questions on the event or inquiries
from staff volunteers should be addressed to the Autocrat at
sfcallic at pams.ncsu.edu (Lord Callixtus Gill).

Thank you,

Anne
