Noble Friends,

Today both the History Blog and Archaeology News are reporting on the
discovery of a huge medieval treasure hoard found in Stockholm Sweden.

The find, discovered by a fisherman digging for worms, is mainly coins,
some 13 pounds of coins numbering around 20,000. The trove also includes
rings, brooches, beads, and what appears to be a belt buckle in one of the
photos. Many of the coins date to the late 12th century reign of Knut
Erickson. There are also a number of rare "bishop's coins" which were
minted for high churchmen.

Some of the coins and the other bling can be seen in the photos that
accompany the stories:

Archaeology News version at
https://archaeologymag.com/2025/10/medieval-silver-hoard-unearthed-near-stockholm/
. Both stories are worth reading, as a few details differ. The Archaeology
News story has larger photos, though the History Blog photos will enlarge
if clicked upon (it does take a while for them to load).
