Noble Friends, especially Vikings:
Yesterday's History Blog entry described a 10th-century game piece that
reveals how at least *some* Vikings *may* have styled their hair and beards.
The piece is carved in great detail, with its hair close cropped and parted
in the middle, and a long beard.
The walrus ivory token is thought to be from a hnefatafl-type game set, and
may represent a king. It was stored for over 200 years in the National
Museum of Denmark, and only now being carefully examined and placed on
display.
