[MR] Galloway Hoard on Tour

Noble Friends, especially fellow Scots,
Yesterday the BBC reported that the Galloway Hoard will go on a world tour,
beginning with a six-month gig in Adelaide, Australia. Other venues will be
announced as arrangements are finalized. Let's hope the hoard will make a
stop in the U.S.
The collection of mostly silver items was found by a metal detectorist in
2014, and was acquired by the National Museums of Scotland in 2017. Not all
of the items will be leaving the country though, as some are too fragile.
The hoard is among the most important such finds in Scotland. It is thought
to have been buried circa 900 CE. A large urn in the collection came from
Iran, which hints at how extensive trade had grown by that date.
