Friends,

About a year ago, Master Grimm and I discussed potential arts and sciences
projects that would combine my passion for medieval agriculture, growing
medieval plants, harvesting (and generally getting my hands dirty) with his
love for spinning, weaving, woodworking, and blacksmithing. We came up with
a seed-to-shawl project. We’ve had numerous requests for more information
about the project and the opportunity to participate in some capacity.
Now’s your chance!

The first seeds went in last March and the flax stalks have been grown,
harvested, dried, rippled, retted, and dried again. That means it's time
for breaking, scutching, and hackling before the flax can be spun into
line.

*On Sunday afternoon, October 27th, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM in
Kernersville, NC*, we are hosting a Flax-Fest Arts and Sciences gathering.
We'll go over the steps we've taken to get this far, and hopefully, you'll
join us for some of the flax processing steps that happen next.

We'll use the tools Master Grimm forged and created in his shop to work on
the flax I grew in my garden. As a bonus, we'll do a little spinning and
ropemaking.

If you're interested in this hands-on Flaxfest, please contact me at
LadyGreenleafe at gmail.com and I will send you the address. We can only take
thirty people, so let me know as soon as possible. Let me know if your
plans change, too.
Tickets and Merch here:
https://www.grimmsfield.org/flaxfest

There will be a potluck after the work is done! Please let us know what you
will be bringing when you order your tickets. For the love and the Arts and
Sciences, the advancement of medieval agricultural arts, and in the hopes
of inspiring others, we remain your servants,

Mistress Lorelei Greenleafe

Master Stephan Grimm
