Noble Friends,

Today's History Blog post discusses a 14th century Papal bull, or lead
seal, found in Kołobrzeg, Poland.

The lead disk is from the reign of Pope Boniface IX. It was likely affixed
to a document by a silk cord or ribbon, and had the legal standing of a
signature. It is thought by researchers that it might be related to an
indulgence granted to the nuns at a Benedictine house in Kołobrzeg. The
document was lost when the area converted to Lutheranism in the 16th
century. Only the seal survives.

The seal can be viewed at https://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/67231 .
