Noble Friends,

Today the BBC offers a feature about a young 7th century Saxon woman whose
grave was discovered in 2012. Forensic experts have recreated the teen's
face.

Other scientific tests show the young woman was born near the Alps,
possibly in what is now southern Germany. She moved to Cambridgeshire in
England at about the age of 7. She apparently was suffering a long illness
when she finally died.

The woman was of high status. The body was buried on a bed, and a gold and
garnet cross was found with the burial.

The BBC story is at
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-65919518 . I had to do a
reload to get two of the photos show.

The 2012 story which also shows the cross is found at

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
