Noble Friends,

Today the History Blog reports that a helm and breastplate stolen from the
Louvre 38 years ago have been recovered in France. Authorities were alerted
when an arms expert was called in to value the pieces as part of an estate.

The 16th century pieces are highly decorated parade armor. They were
intended for ceremonial use and would not have been worn in battle. The
History Blog does not mention for whom the helm and breastplate were
originally made.

Here is the story: http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/60899 .

More on the armor can be found here:

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
