Noble Friends,

Today the History Blog reports on the discovery of a medieval longsword,
scabbard fittings and two knives in northeastern Poland. They were found by
a metal detectorist, and turned over to authorities for study and
preservation.

The high-quality sword might have been lost after the 1410 Battle of
Grunwald which was fought nearby, when Polish and Lithuanian forces crushed
the Teutonic Knights.

The complete story of the sword with photos is at
http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/61267 .

More about the Battle of Grunwald is at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Grunwald .

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
