I don't expect them to go under because I expect that the big ones have been making crazy money when they're there, so if nobody comes and it's canceled (as several have been) their only overhead is payment on the property, which, with as much money as they've been making, they better have a nice little chunk set by to get through the lean time with.

Subject: [MR] Demise of RENAISSANCE MAGAZINE

Noble Friends,

It had been a while since I received a copy of RENAISSANCE MAGAZINE. Today
I got a postcard saying the magazine was insolvent and ceasing operations
immediately. Bummer.

Sad to see the magazine go, as it had a lot of stuff interesting for us,
and for the last couple of years included regular features on the SCA. I
won't miss their events list though. Events that had happened months before
continued to be listed.

I am also concerned about how many renfaires will go under during this
plague. The only one Lady Sarah and I still attend is the Virginia Renfaire
at the Lake Anna Winery. Since it is largely run by volunteers, it stands a
good chance of surviving. Still, every renfaire that closes is a loss to
re-enactors everywhere. And every renfaire that closes is likely to drag
down merchants who depend on the faires for the livelihood as well.

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
