Noble Friends, Especially Vikings,

On Saturday the History Blog feature discussed the discovery of a rare
chambered grave in central Norway dating to circa 850-950. Such chambered
graves are not uncommon in Viking-era towns, but are rare in the
countryside.

The grave's occupant was a woman of evident high status, given the
interesting grave goods with which she was buried. The artifacts suggest
she might have been of Danish origin, possibly married to an important
Norwegian chief to cement an alliance.

The story is found at http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/60114 .

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
