Noble Friends, Especially Vikings:

Today the History Blog features a story about the first Viking ship burial
found in Norway for over 100 years. The ship is the star, but the site
includes other burials and indications of at least five longhouses. This is
going to be a salvage job, as wood recovered from a test pit shows fungus
rot, probably abetted by fertilizers and agricultural chemicals sprayed on
the crops grown above. A recovery excavation will begin in June if funding
is approved.

The whole story and a video clip is found at
http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/58646 . The video clip apparently
only runs on Facebook.

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
