Today the History Blog is offering a story on a French antiquities
looter/hoarder who was sitting on a huge collection of illegal goodies.

The man was caught after he bought an orchard in Belgium where he claimed
to have found a huge hoard of coins. The orchard was a scam to launder the
French antiquities under Belgium's rather liberal treasure laws rather than
the much stricter laws in France. The historical/contextual information
lost from the items is incalculable.
