[MR] Lefty archers

Lady Jacintha and Friends of the Bow,

Actually, many commercial composite bows are available for left-hand
archers. Often they have to be special-ordered. Since only 11% or so of the
world is left-handed, lefty bows don't sell as well as right-hand versions
and are not stocked to the same depth as right hand bows by retailers. I
noted that at the local Dicks store, the right hand Bear bows stocked when
the store opened sold out quickly, but they still have some lefties in
stock that were there then when the store opened.

The Slick Stick bow from all accounts is a very well-designed and well-made
weapon. Sadly, they are not stocked by most brick-and-mortar outlets, and
archery shops, especially those that carry traditional equipment, are
increasingly hard to find. My Lady Sarah Sinclair wants a Slick Stick, but
we've held off until she can find one to physically put into her hand and
test the grip for comfort. If you have a Slick Stick, please show it around
at events so others can get a feel for these fine weapons. It was handling
someone else's Tred Barta longbow (with permission, of course) that made me
choose that outstanding weapon when I still shot a modern longbow. It fit
my hand perfectly. Sadly, that bow isn't made anymore.

Do take note that the Slick Stick takes a "fast flight" string made with
modern materials. I discovered that my Barta bow lacked power when I
substituted a B-50 flemish string, and suspect that his may generally be
true for all "fast flight" compatible bows.

As for Kustom King, I have been a customer for years. Their prices are
fair. Though they don't have as broad a selection as 3Rivers, Kustom King
has some products others don't sell. They are a Bear Paw dealer, generally
a very good value and of reasonable quality for the price (except Bear Paw
fletching tape, which from my experience is worthless; "stick" with
Bohnning fletching tape if you use that type of adhesive).
