Noble Friends,

Today the BBC reports on the discovery of a previously uncataloged charter
sealed by King John in 1200. The document was found by a visiting
researcher in Durham University's Ushaw College Library.

This charter is a grant of lands to two nephews by their uncle and King
John's seal is official confirmation of the grant. Interestingly, an 1183
charter granting the same lands to the uncle is also held in the library,
allowing side-by-side comparison.

More on the story is found at

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
